While we were sitting chilling with the baboons this afternoon (as one does between clients), what looked like a rogue male decided he wanted to go for one of the babies. He started to chase the mama, at first we thought it was a fun game, but quickly realised that he was in for the kill, he wanted that baby.

She ran like crazy, with baby clinging on for dear life.

A few baboons tried to help her at first but he eventually caught up to her, and went in for full attack – at that moment, the entire troop went completely into full protection mode, like a trained combat unit and tore into him, chasing him off at high speed.

Whew! our adrenalin was def higher than usual. The baby looked wounded…..what happened afterwards ….read the book
